What I’m Cooking
I have these fantasies where I live on a farm, am always perky and full of energy, make extraordinary lunches for my kids which I carry for them down the gravel driveway to the bus, where I hand them said lunches and kiss them goodbye. They wave happily, so aware of how lucky they are to have me as a mom. Then I walk back home, write for a few hours, make love to my hunky guy, freshen up, greet the kids at the bus with some homemade cookies, and make an amazing meal for dinner. We are all so happy! (sound of record scratching) Wait, oh, that’s Ree Drummond, not me!
I still want to do all those things, but most days I’m too exhausted from work and life. My revised goal is to make great food that is delicious, nutritious, and sup’s easy! This page is dedicated to some of my favorites.
delish.com is a site owned, build and edited by Hearst Magazines Digital Media. My favorite part of this site is the “insanely Easy Weeknight Dinners,” tagline: Some (read: most) nights you just can’t with making dinner. But with these super-simple ideas and recipes, you’ll be glad you put the takeout habit on hold.” And they are right! I have yet to try a meal from this section that was not absolutely DELISH and silly simple to make. Try the Burger Foil Packs!
PureWow.com is pure wow! I came across this gem while trying to figure out how to cook for a family that includes a cave man, a vegetarian/vegan, a picky-tarian, and a gluten intolerant, menopausal neurotic (guess which one is me!) and not spend hours or make several meals only to end up with no one liking it, anyway! I’m embarking on their “Eat Clean for All 21 Meals This Week” plan starting yesterday today tomorrow.
